  Golden Pike V Painting Contest!

Sorry for the delay folks but as some of you from Chaos Dwarfs Online know I've had a few challenges in life as of late.... But enough of that the Staff and I are pleased to bring you the next painting contest for Dogs of War Online!

This time around the focus of the contest is to create a Mercenary Ogre! While there have been some changes to 8th Edition Warhammer obviously we feel that ogres still remain a valuable asset even with our PDF list. Plus ogres are cool to model, but I'm not a fan of the flabby man-boob plastic ones for Ogre Kingdoms, but hey to each his own eh?

Subject Matter
Create and paint a single Ogre model on a 40x40mm base. The model must be recognizable as an ogre and may not be a "count as." If there is any questions as to what a single ogre is please contact one of the staff Wink

So what do we mean by this?
If you want to create a standard bearer, sculpt your own, make a champion, use the Mordheim or chaos ogres from the various ranges then go ahead. Basically is wide open to interpretation as long as its an ogre. There is no maximum to the size of the model in theory but he may not be mounted on any type of steed, perhaps we'll do another contest focusing on that somewhere down the road.

Basing
As per the rules the ogre must be on 40x40 mm bases.

Particulars, Deadline? and how to enter
Due Date: 11:59 PM, Saturday October 30th, 2010 EDST (Eastern Daylight Savings Timezone). Why EDST? Because that's where I live, the server is located and because I'm the Boss damn it! Wink

Send all entries to the Goldenpike account (a special user that all Staff have access to). Again, no later then 11:59 PM, Saturday October 30th, 2010 EDST (Eastern Daylight Savings Timezone). Entries will not be accepted after that date and time regardless of how cool your submission is. (This is around 2 months and bit more to complete your entry). That should be enough time for almost anyone.

If for some reason you are having trouble with your submission, contact one of the Staff. In order to avoid problems, I "highly advise" that entrants do not wait until the very last minute to submit their entries... Also to avoid issues make sure you keep a copy of your sent message in PMs should and issue arise.

Next, for tips on how to take great photos look here:
http://dogsofwaronline.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=25

Photographing on a white background works wonders and makes my job easier too Smile which is always a good thing to do....

If you win:
- Rightly take your place in the Golden Pike Hall of Fame, where your glory will be remembered for years to come.
- Receive the Golden Pike Medal for your online persona. If more then ten people enter the Silver and Bronze will be awarded as well.
- Everyone who enters gets a number of gold ducats equal to the number of entries. If 50 people enter we award 50 gold ducats to each person who entered.*

Good luck everyone, make us (the Staff) proud.

Click here to download Issue #4 of Gold and Glory

If any of you read the Word of Hashut you know it seems to be impossible for me to ever get a ezine out on time. So with that said why should Gold and Glory be any different?

Thanks for all your patience folks as this one has been a bit of a haul for me with everything going on in my life. No excuse I know but as with many things it is what it is.

Inside this awesome issue you will find a wealth of great art, and articles and a great battle report to boot. There is an amazing amount of content so as I often say I wont ruin it for everyone.

I also want to thank the entire group that helped work on this, you can see all of the folks who contributed inside of the ezine itself.

For those that want a bit smaller of a file you can download the low resolution one here: http://www.mediafire.com/file/tlizjouomj...ry_4lr.pdf

For those inclined to using Issuu: (this will be uploaded shortly).

Poll will run for 10 days and then close.

Once the poll is done the Golden Pike medal will be awarded to the winner. When we get more then 10 entries the Silver and Bronze will be awarded. So stay tuned for the next one.

All those who entered will receive 8 Golden Ducats as well for entering the contest.

In addition the winner will be placed in the Golden Pike Hall of Fame galleries which are now working, but need a bit of tweaking from my end.

So congrats and good luck to the entrants for this round and awesome work.

*NOTES
1. One entry does not use human figures for this contest; This is my fault as I did not specify to the contrary. Contests in the future will be clearer regarding this as to which race in such a mixed army as Dogs of War.

2. I did the best with the photos that I could. But please note that I am not responsible for how they look as I clean them up as much as I can. I mention this because it came up last time Smile

Its that time again, this time we are proud to bring you the Golden Pike IV Painting Contest as presented by http://www.dogsofwaronline.com
