Hello all.
I am hoping to start painting a unit of Ricco's Republican Guard, and would like to paint them very in a very similar colour scheme to their original style, with that gold/brass/bronze armour.
That colour of armour also seems to be used on the besiegers and Volands original schemes, and I am thinking I would like to use it as the main armour colour for the rest of my force, to tie them together.

So, my question is, what paints and/or washes would you use to achieve that effect, and how would you go about doing it?
I simply used dwarf bronze dry-brushed over chaos black, works really well, and goes really fast too. If you wan to make it more complicated, use tin bitz as a base, and highlight with dwarf bronze and shining gold. You definitely want chaos black as an undercoat though.
Thanks, that should really help. Would it be worth it, if I went the dwarf bronze drybrush route, to throw a simple wash over top?
My old Brass turned out more gold, but I think you should be able to do something like.

Undercoat black. Basecoat Tin Bitz.
Do a 50-50coat of Tinbitz, Shining Gold. (This ends up being similar to the old Brazen Brass paint)
Highlight with Shining gold.
Wash with Devlan Mud.

Or mess around with something like that. I haven't tried it out yet, but will be next time I am intending to paint some Brass. I figured my Brazen Brass pot wouldn't last forever.
I agree with someone and M4cR,
wanted to paint my Alcatani Fellowship in the "official" colours too, which are quite similar to the Guard, but a bit more "gold and shiny". So I started with Chaos Black as Undercoat and then drybrushed them with Dwarven Bronze and (a bit less) Shining Gold! If you want them more dirty or used, then wasgh with Badab Black or Devlan Mud as someone said...I'm happy with the result! Big Grin
You cant get Brazen Brass any more? :O

GW screws everything up.
I painted a couple statue's that came out really well. At least to my liking; I wanted bronze statues.

Black undercoat.
Heavy drybrush Tin Bitz.
Heavy drybrush Dwarf Bronze.
Badab Black Wash all over.
Lighter drybrush Dwarf Bronze.

Came out fine to me.
