Time for another update for the Dogs of War, this time one of my Mercenary Cannon teams. The cannon and two human crewmen are the Bronzino's Galloper Gun minis and the powder monkey is from the new Empire Handgunners/Crossbowmen box set.

Here are some pics of my Captasus - I used an old 5th ed Bretonnian dragon head instead of the new one and added the dragon shield from their special character as well. I also picked up an orc casualty and added him to the base witha broken shield next to him to represent the captasus having run him through. Comments welcome.

Dogs of War Duellists aka Pistol Thugs Smile The unit is mostly done except for some touchups here and there and then some fine detail work on the faces.

Dogs of War Light Cavalry

Finally finished assembling and converting my 5 strong light cavalry unit! Pics to come very soon.

Took them out for a test-run vs dwarfs where they got a rear-charge on a unit and ended up killing 2 while the horses killed another - all at S3 --- forgot they come with spears as base so I could've potentially had another one, but oh well, they paid for themselves with that rear-charge

Well as promised , here is the first shot of the assembly process - lots of sprues and the bitz box! As you can see , the first member of the unit is assembled.

Finally a few updated pics of the whole unit assembled! Next step is to paint these guys up.

Dragon: Asarnil

Here it is! The fully assembled HE dragon kit which I'll be using to represent Asarnil! I removed the dragon from the rock perch and mounted him on a brass rod so that he looks like he is flying.

I've still got a lot of conversion/green stuff work to do on the base before he gets painted.

A few closeups of the light cav unit champ - I'll hopefullly get one painted up soon.

First up is the finished Voland's unit which got reinforced by 4 more for a total of 9. The other four are just plastic empire knights with Voland's shields attached. Still need to base the new ones. Took them out for a test run now that they're all painted and they managed to break a dwarf warrior block with rune priest after taking out 7 dwarfs on the charge - 2 from the horses

Finished up my dwarf warrior unit for the Dogs of War. About half have GW and the rest HW&Shield. Whichever way I'm using them, I'll put those in the front of the unit and the rest in the back to be the first casualties. Still need to get the basing done on these guys and soem touchups here and there.

Some pics of the Republican Guard which I finally got close to being finished! This was a fun unit to paint. I still need to do the basing and some final highlights ont he armor and red areas (which is like 90% of the mini Smile) They have since been based.

And yet more pikes - this time Leo's Leopard Company! - still need to paint the faces and base these guys. These guys were a blast to paint, and it took some time getting the leopard pattern right, still might go back and touch that part up a little.

Here are some WIP shots of my other unit of duellists. I decided to go with a green/white scheme for these guys. I've got one basically finished right now while the rest are in the "brown" phase.

Some more WIP of the 2nd duellist unit

Shot of the whole unit - all at various stages of completion - The front 4 are 'complete' as far as the amount of work I'm going to do on them here. Once I'm back home they'll get some final detailing and basing of course.

More WIP of the duellists. Making some good progress on the duellist unit and have 7 finished with 2 more to go. They'll still need some touching up, highlighting and basing. Questions and comments welcome!

Finally finished! Here are some pics of the complete unit. All the major work is finished. Still need to do some touchups, finish the cloaks, highlight/shade, and the faces.

Next up will be getting to work on these guys:

It has been quite a while since I've been able to post a Dogs of War update, so here we go! Aside from working on Forgeworld stuff, I'm powering through my unit of Light Cavalry. I'm pretty happy with the way the first one has turned out and this will make the other 4 go pretty quick. I'm pretty happy as this is the first time I've managed to get the eyes and face to look decent. It might be a bit hard to see in the first pic but he does have eyes and he looks about ready to cut some enemies down with his saber. Stay tuned for the finished unit in the near future. Comments welcome!

After going through a few paint schemes I decided to give him one final version which is what we have here. Nothing too fancy for a Paymaster on foot. I generally run him with a morningstar (here it's a mace) and a pistol which you can sort of see stick out to the side of him. I did try my first green stuff work with him and the fur on the back of his cloak is the result. Not too shabby for a first try. He is basically just from the new Empire hero kit with the addition of one of the old 6th ed Empire shields. Questions and comments welcome!

The pistol is holstered behind him and sticks off to the side.

For now, here is some more new stuff:

Starting to repaint my maneaters - just wasn't satisfied with the way they turned out the first time. First up is one of my maneaters sporting a cathayan longsword. Comes complete with parrot gnoblar on the shoulders Smile You might recognize the sword arm as that of the ogre tyrant. I decided to give this guy a couple of gutplates-turned-shoulder pads to bulk him up a little bit and make him look more vicious. They are supposed to be wearing heavy armor after all. There are still a few minor touchups to do (forgot the teeth) and the skinn will get a lot more attention (which reminds me I need to pickup some bronzed as well as elf flesh). Questions and comments welcome!

Avast, prepare to be Pwn3d!

Hey all, small update here for the Dogs of War who haven't gotten much attention lately due to all the work going into churning out Blood Angels and various other pieces for Apocalypse. This is my Maneater with a great weapon and he rolls with a unit of 2 other Maneaters armed with Cathayan Longswords. This guy gets the chariot and knight killing duties with his 4 S7 attacks. These guys are definitely a blast to paint as there is a lot of detail to work on. I greenstuffed some extra chainmal pieces on him to lend him a more 'heavy armor' look. I still need to go back and hit some more highlights on the skin as well as the purple and yellow of his clothes. I'm going with a darker overall skintone on this guy just to set him apart from the other two. This guy like the other Maneaters is a repaint from a previous scheme that I wasn't quite satisfied with. I'm liking the two finished ones now compared to what they looked like before. IIRC purple and yellow/gold are Marienburg colors, but don't hold me to that. Comments welcome!

Just a summary of where I'm at with the Maneaters - they're 2/3 of the way done, just one more armed with a Cathayan Longsword to go. The last one shouldn't actually take too long to do as there are only a few parts I want to repaint. Look for him and pics of the finished unit soon! In the meantime enjoy a few pics of the wrecking crew Smile

Hey all, it's been a while since the last Dogs of War update. Here is the finished unit of light cavalry. These guys still need some detail work done on them, but they're ready for the tabletop in any case. I wanted to create a slightly different cavalry unit - no bows and no lances/spears - just sabers. They've performed above expectations in the two battles I've used them so hopefully they continue to shine now that they're all painted. Comments welcome!

Hey all, here is the third and final Maneater for my Dogs of War. This guy was also a repaint from an earlier scheme although this one required the least amount of reworking. As with the other Maneater equipped with a Cathayan Longsword I gave this guy some spiky shoulder pads (gut plates) and added some extra chainmail here and there to make him look a bit more armored. I still need to go back and touch up some areas on him but by and large he is ready for the tabletop again along with the other complete members of his unit. Comments welcome!
