1.Cheap crossbowmen are the backbone of my army.
2. Pistol Dualists are magic hiding in forests, ruins and difficult tarrain.
3. We get light cavelty with bows for cheap.
4. Nothing takes a big bite ot of an infanty block like the Hewer.
5. Don't forget maneaters with brace of handguns.
6. The hot pot is not too shabby for only 50 pts.
7. Although Asarnil is a big monster, I use him to shoot rather than fight.

I think shooting is the way to go with Dogs of War.

Dark Shogun, if I may ask, what does your army list look like? It sounds very intriguing! (I played Dwarfs for awhile, so I like shooty armies!)
I just tried it a bit with the german onlinecodex, and in theory this army sounds pretty nice!
It includes:
Lvl 4 Wizard with 2 Scrolls and Powerstone on Pegasus
Mounted Paymaster with Crossbow

2 x 12 Crossbowers
2 x 8 Duelists with pistols
12 Marksman of Miragliano (Paymaster in here, Maximilian can do the bodyguard job, the Marksmans' Stand and Shoot is quite a good defense too, i suppose)
A unit of Light Cav (either spears/shields or bows, depending on enemy and how you use them)
5 of Voland's lads (Not sure about him, but I really like the drunken cavalry Big Grin)
2 x 3 Maneaters with Brace Of Handguns
Mengil + 9 Manflayers (Maybe less guys here, theyre expensive)
Lumpin Croop + 13 Fighting Cocks (I like halflings, and they fit here quite well)
a cannon (maybe swap cannon and one unit of crossbows for a lvl 2 wizard, more offensive magic)
the goblin hewer (this machine rocks Big Grin)
--> just around 2,5k points.

The list is shooty, but still has some meele capability (Mengil, the Maneaters, Voland maybe) and nasty elements in form of the massed shooting skirmishers.

What do you think of it? Maybe i test it these days vs Greenskins or Warriors of Chaos!
Greetings
Mork
My standard list:
paymaster with heavy armour, shield, horse, barding, pistol, morningstar, bright helm of myridia & estalian cloak
level 4 wizard with pegasus & 4 scrolls
level 2 wizard with pike of remas & 1 scroll
4x10 crossbows
3x8 duelists with pistols
2x5 light cav with bows & spears
12 long drongs
3 maneaters with handguns
12 bearmen
1 hewer
1 cannon

Sometime I drop a the lvl2 wizard, the canon & the bears and take asarnil.

I like your list and your way of think, Morkash. Cavalry is one of our pluses. (Just ask Dwarfs!) Heavy cavalry--especially Voland's Venators--can overrun quite a few enemy units. Plus, like you say, they are quite colorful characters! I love them! But, be sure to give them some flank support, like with those Light Cavalry units.
Let us know how you fare, my friend!
