Its that time again, this time we are proud to bring you the Golden Pike IV Painting Contest as presented by http://www.dogsofwaronline.com

After the less then stellar turnout for Golden Pike III we the staff put our heads together to come up with something that almost anyone is going to use in their army: Duelists! C'mon who doesn't like these guys, here is a great chance to start on a

Subject Matter
Create and paint a unit of 5 Duelists for Golden Pike IV.

So what do we mean by this?
Create, modify, what have your duelists for submission for this Golden Pike. Again 5 shall be the number, no more no less, 6 is right out; 4 shall thou do only unless thou proceedeth to 5... (*Apologies to Monty Python and the Quest for the Holy Grail").

Basing
As per the rules duelists must be on 20x20 mm bases. And note there should be 5.

Particulars, Deadline? and how to enter
Due Date: 11:59 PM May 31st, 2010 EDST (Eastern Daylight Savings Timezone)

Send all entries to the Goldenpike account (a special user that all Staff have access to). Again, no later then 11:59 PM May 31st, 2009 EDST (Eastern Daylight Savings Timezone). Entries will not be accepted after that date and time regardless of how cool your submission is. (This is around 10 weeks to complete your entry).

If for some reason you are having trouble with your submission, contact one of the Staff. In order to avoid problems, I "highly advise" that entrants do not wait until the very last minute to submit their entries...

Next, for tips on how to take great photos look here:

Photographing on a white background works wonders and makes my job easier too Smile

If you win:
- Rightly take your place in the Golden Pike Hall of Fame, where your glory will be remembered for years to come.
- Receive the Golden Pike Medal for your online persona. If more then ten people enter the Silver and Bronze will be awarded as well.
- Everyone who enters gets a number of gold ducats equal to the number of entries. If 50 people enter we award 50 gold ducats to each person who entered.*

Good luck everyone, make us (the Staff) proud.
Sounds like a lot of fun. I'll strat cracking right away.
It is fun!
So dogs of war, get yar painting- equipment ready! everyone has 5 duelists or at least needs them.
I want a good and hard competition, that means that everyone participates, so we have at least 15 entires.

Good theme!@ Willmark and staff
Man, are you gonna force me to paint ANOTHER unit of duellists? I suppose I could try, otherwise I do have 4 finished ones to enter already I suppose...
ooooh

hope my figures I just ordered in some sort of pre-sentient way come in time now...
Perfect timing! As I just bought a ton of bits and parts and am working on 20 or so Duelists to cover my flanks from my bloody High Elf enemies.

I am just beginning though, but I'm in on this for sure.
I have a thought on how these boys should look...
It's good to hear, that so many people have good ideas, but keep in mind to really finish and participate with your project, because this contest is living by real response. Doesn't make much fun, if there are only three competitors at the end.Dodgy

So paint!Wink
Yeah lets see if we can get over 10 so I can hand out the Silver and Bronze medals as as well.
If on former goldenpikes more competitors would have participate, I would have two Silver-medals already!

I'm in... Now, what to arm them with... I can hear the chorus of "pistols!" already.
Hope we'll see something different to the ever present "Empire Militia with pistols" Sad
Ulikely. The Empire Milita is just so much. I mean, buy two boxes and you've got like 20 Crossbows and all our pistols. It's not that the models are the absoltue best available to Duelists, just that the economic price is the best deal for them. Pull out some green and do some converting. Tongue
I'll be participating and I won't be using GW Empire militia with pistols. I won't be using GW models at all.
Likewise #9
I think I will try my hand at this competition. I will have to finish my entry for the W-E.com contest first though!
You will Defintely see something different from Empire Militia with pistols.
Well, as my painting and configuration of my duelists is coming along I know a few things.

I am not aiming to win because (a) I'm really starting at this (b) I don't have much unique bits to work with at this point © I'm doing it more to be an active newbie on the board and to challenge myself to get better.

So be gentle.
Beeing active is always welcome! We'll be very gentle Wink
I think I'll give it a whirl, if only to provide some padding for the contest's numbers. I've been needing to make up some duelists, anyways.
Good now make sure all this action translates into action everyone!!!
Just waiting on my figures...
I am already in proces of painting them. just experimenting with skin tones right now.
I've got 20 assembled. Picking configuration of the ones I like best.
Definately gonna give this a shot.
Not sure if I'm going to paint me some Vespero's Vendetta figures or convert my own yet.
