Just wondering in terms of numbers how many people there are here with a major pirate theme to their army?

If so, what race(s)?

You would do well to look at Kera's army in the gallery among others. Wink
Yaaaaaaaarr...I'm a member of the Brotherhood of the coast, click the link to the Black Pearl in my signature to sail with my Druchii corsairs! Big Grin
I have a pirate themed duelist unit, but that's mainly because of that one model.
Unsurprisingly my duellists are all mariners, mainly due to a load of Foundry minis I had (and I want a load more!)

At some point I will increase their numbers.
Yeah, while my army is coming along very slowly it is going to be mostly pirate themed. Hard to argue with the Duelists (Free Company/Militia box) and then of course you have the Slayer Pirates. Tongue Good stuff. Smile
There is only one thing, what is cooler than a Pirate:
A Ninja Pirate Zombie Robot--> http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Ma...ombieRobot

I have three pirate armies:

5K Dogs of War with all sorts of different races
3K Ogre Kingdoms
2.5K Vampire Counts

The dogs of war force contains dwarves, dark elves, and ogres, as well as a giant and lots of humans.

Cool, but no chance against Communist-Nazis!!!!!Cool
Oh no, not even the bear could fight communist-nazis. He would probably think he was drunk and go have a cigarette.

Just thought I'd ask, whether or not pirate created armies people make are from Sartosa or are they from some where else?

Also, I forgot to say that my pirates are humans, mainly.....
My are from the Tilean Gulf, but were born in Naggaroth.
I have one duellist unit from Sartosa, but I mean to replace it with some pirate models from Old Glory soon. There is only so much you can do with Empire militia...

Those and Ogre Bulls have made our lives sweeter Smile
For those that didn't know the old Sartosan zobie pirates are coming out for the collectors range. I think sometime in June but I'm not sure. Can anyone confirm this?

Old Sartosan Zombie Pirates???
I don't remember them bringing out any specific Zombie Pirate models anytime recently (Even with the Luthor Harkon list, it was all converted). There is currently a Sartosan Vampire, and a Sartosan Pirate that looks zombified (And a living Sartosan Pirate Captain) but that's it.
No, they released a few during the 6th edition as part of Lustria campaign. They weren't really limited edition, but they didn't really last that long. I think due to the limited popularity of the Sartosan zombie pirate, they are going to re-release them in June as part of the collectors range. I'm not 100% on this so tell me if this is wrong. I asked on warseer but I have yet to get a reply.
Also, I just picked up a copy of Warhammer Historical's "High Seas" game.

Its kinda like Mordheim, but for Pirates Big Grin
Legends of the High Seas is a very cool game. I'm currently working on adapting a few bits of it for a pirate-themed Mordheim campaign with ships.
Very nice book too all round.
I've collected a 2k pirate themed Dogs of War army, though not gamed with it - I drifted out of wargaming during 6th but am hoping to get back into it with the new edition.

My 8th Ed list includes something along the lines of:
Pirate Captain on a pegasus
Wizard Lord (either basic-ish or some games possibly with a second level 2 along with a power scroll and the same spell lore so as to have a very good chance of getting a chosen spell off with irresistible force once per game - Okham's Mindrazor, Dwellers Below, Birona's Timewarp, the Savage Beast of Horros or the Transformation of Kadon all look game changing at the right moment)
Lot of Crossbowmen
Lots of Duelists with Pistols
30 Long Drongs (maybe deployed 2 by 15 initially)
Halflings (possibly a unit of 36 with spears to try and cast Okham's Mindrazor on if having gone for the 2 wizard power scroll combo)
Either 6 Golgfags Ogres or 30 Cursed Company in horde formation
Perhaps a few Dwarves
2 x Cannons
2 x Hotpots
i actually tried really hard to stay away from this theme, 1) because i figured everyone would use it, 2) because pirates on land never really worked for me.
my general's story starts off in sartosa, but he quickly hires a crew to get him out and promptly sends them to battle in the principalities where they all die.
