I'm aiming for a hit and run, pistolly goodness force, with the Light Cav there to take pot shots themselves and run down small units of missile troops. The Duellists will take out the enemy heavy stuff with ambushing pistol fire with a combined charge at the end.
Because it is Warbands, I don't need a stupid Paymaster.
I'm not sure about splitting up the Duellists into 5 man or smaller groups to have more units on the table.
Under warbands rules I believe you could even nominate a unit champion to be the General of the army.

Personally I would like one unit of Crossbows, but that is my playing taste, and a unit of Heavy Cavalry. You won't believe what they can do in a small points game.
For 500 pts, I'd take:

Beorg's Bearmen
- Beorg (Commander)
+ 14 Bearmen (FC)

Wizard L1 (w/ Beorg)

8 Pistol Duellists

6 Light Cav w/ Spears

[no dumb boy, of course]
I believe in Warbands you can't do that.
Taking a Regment of Renow restricts you from taking an other hero's or Regiments of Renown and they have to be the general.
If that's the case, then losing the Wizard is no big deal. Beorg is still a monster at this point level.
A single RoR is allowed in Dogs of War Warband and it's leader MUST be the leader of the warband. You CANNOT have another character in the army.

From the Warhammer Warbands pdf. Page 4
"Dogs of War Warbands that include a Regiment of Renown that comes with a character or characters may include no other characters in the Warband, and the character who leads the Regiment of Renown will act as the Commander of the Warband."
