Following Carloff's thread, I think I'd suggest something like this for 2700 pts of Dogs of War under ETC rules:

1 Lord
Wiz Lord lv.4 w/ 2 Dispel & Dispel Staff (310)
- with GW Norse, takes Fire / Death / Heavens

3 Heroes
Paymaster in Hvy Army, Brace, Sword of Might & Enchanted Shield (103)
- hides w/ Beorg

Asarnil (460)

Wiz lv.2 w/ 2 Dispel (145)
- hides w/ Beorg, takes Beasts

3 Core
6 Voland's Venators (219)
8 Duellists w/ Pistols (72)
8 Duellists w/ Pistols (72)

4 Special
15 Mengil's Manflayers (458)
24 Beorg's Bearmen (383)
16 Norse w/ Great Weapon & Shield, Champ, Standard (180)
1 Maneater w/ Brace, Hvy Armor (90)

2 Rare
1 Dogs of War Giant (205)
+ Deathfang

This is an attacking army, so the only real shooting is Mengil, with a couple Braces to S&S annoyance.

As I see it, the extra 200 pts adds some wargear, bumps the Manflayers and upgrades a Maneater to a Giant. Not a huge change from the 2500 pt list.

And do what? This is an all out infantry army with few fast movers. All heroes on foot is fast enough to keep pace with the rest of the infantry. With the duellist roaming between your ranks, they are even safe against small flyer units.

During the 8 games I have played I mostly kept my wizards walking single. out line of site and under the magical umbrella of their own dispel dice they are pretty save.... I have to say that I mostly used 2 Ogres units, Dragon, 3 cav units. When they arrive in charge range (pretty much in turn 1) they immediatly become concern number one to any one trying to fry youre wizards... Wink

You'll have to eat a lot of missiles before the infantry arrives John.

For 1+ as for PM.
that's a viable one, for the PM sure. But the wizards ... well a nill or a 6+ will not make the difference will it?

The PM dude can't be targetted in the unit (by shooting at least) or it must be special things an opponent can produce. When he's in close combat and he is targetted, well that is indeed true then he would have an extra save.
The Paymaster and Lv.2 are with Beorg. That's 4 Characters, of whom Beorg is capable of ripping pretty much anything apart. He's far safer with Beorg than anywhere else in the army.
John, it 2500 just now. Go reassemble ?
Yeah. Put a fork in this one, it's done.

The question now is whether to take Asarnil or Rhinox Riders.
