LOL, adults only would be for gentlemen club or ladies night at the local bar. you know you can have a party without alcohol, and tail gate parties are not adults only, families go to them too. if the name is bugging ya, you could just call it a block party. it is a group of friends getting together to have fun for a game that they love. with us talking about all this great food, it just sounds like a great idea. We are Dogs of War after all.
You can't change the name. It come from setting up the ice chest or grill on the Tail Gate of a pickup truck.

yeah, but nascar came from bootlegging but you don't see any of the drivers running from the cops with a trunk full of boose. Dodgy however that might be the reason for some of them, they way they drive.Tongue

The great thing about a tail gate party is load up the trunk, find an open spot. light up the grill. Good Food, Good Friends what more do you need?

But it does explain them keeping the minimum weight rather high. Big Grin

No Rain/Sleet/Hail Tongue
ahhh

we dont have a special name for it in the UK, other than "picknick" or "garden party"

And since its the UK we dont need a special reason to drink booze.
Yo mean you don't have a bunch of guys who go to the football games (or auto races) several hours (days) before hand and have cookouts in the parking lot?
Nope. In fact you'd probably be arrested depending on the area.
I know in my local town centres it's an alcohol free zone- no drinking alcohol in public areas! As Uryens hinted at we have a slight problem in this country with the amount of alcohol irresponsible people consume, and ruin it for the rest of us.
And you haven't had a proper barbecue until you've had one in the rain/sleet/hail Big Grin
Or a blizzard on a scottish moor.

Never get between a freezing man in a kilt and his burger...especially when he is armed with an India Pattern Brown Bess.
Not Haggus?

They tailgate here in -40 Wind Chill Factor and 30 inches of snow.
Football well the best football team is Manchester United !!!!!!
Taco bell that made from dead skavens but it is good late at night
if your going to spend time out in the rain a good bowl of chilli is the best
or if your hunting
Any hot spicy food in those conditions I think, or porridge.
Or, even better- hot spicy porridge. And yes i have seen it, declined to try it, but i've seen it!

My favourite is seafood and Pizza.
Well, anything that was boiled in fat. Here in Brazil we have a dish called "Carne De Onça", which rougly translates to "Cougar's Meat". It's basically uncooked grounded beef with some spices. It's Frikking Awesome!

Heh, "Live well, Die fat!". Sometimes I wonder why I haven't started an Ogre Kingdoms army yet...
Best foods are (and in no particular order):

Saag chicken and roti;
Spicy Italian Sausages on a bun with fries;
Shredded pork on a bun, again with the fries;
Roast beef, roasted potatoes, steamed peas; and
Smoked meat sandwich on rye with mustard and swiss cheese (gotta be from a decent deli - Dunn's or Nate's)
