Hi all, a quick Flames of War update. This time it's a Grenadier team with an attached HMG team. These guys still need a lot of touching up and highlighting. I've got 2 more HMG teams to paint in order to finish that platoon, and then it's on to the dozen or so teams for my Grenadier platoons. Comments welcome!

Hi all, yet more additions to the Grenadier Kompanie. Artillery definitely plays a big role in this game, so much so that not having any leaves you at a serious disadvantage. To remedy that, I picked up the complete 10.5cm artillery battery for my Grenadiers! Once everything is gets painted I'll work on adding these guys to the Kompanie. This is a nice set as it contains scenic bases for everything. Comments welcome!

Haven't had time to paint lately but we did squeeze in a 2v2 Flames game the other week. Germans&Italians vs Brits&Yanks mid-war. After an initial stalemate for a few turns the tide turned in our favor as virtually all of the Brits were elminated and the Yanks were down to a few platoon remnants. My Grenadiers finally reached their objective and held it to secure victory. My StuGs performed exceptionally well, largely being responsible for the destruction of a Churchill platoon as well as a platoon of Lee's. I did lose one to a lucky arty shot but they continued to rack up kills. The Grenadier platoons also performed well, using a large wood to constantly launch attacks from, and then using stormtrooper to retreat into cover. I should be able to get some more units painted once the semester winds down.
Considering the game is made in my neck of the woods and I love WW2 history (but war is baaad, mmmkay) I really should get around to giving it a go since I know a few people who play at the sell stackloads of it at the store I game at.

It's definitely worth trying!
Hello all, Slick here. It's been quite a while since I've posted an update for my German forces so here is a completed Panzer IV. Next up will be some finished infantry platoons. Comments welcome!

I'm new to this website (joined today) and for a few months I have been thinking about buying an Italian Army. So I did some research and found this website and thread. Just out of curiosity what suggestion do you have an what do you think of the performance of the Italian Army according to the 2 games you played? About your German Army, it going very well! Keep it going, one question aren't some StuGs self propelled artillery?
StuG are indeed self propelled guns. They are basicly infantry combat support vehicles. In later years of the wars, as the number of tanks dwindeled, they where also used in tank formations.
StuG or "Sturm Geschütz". Translated it would be, "Assault Cannon" or in a more modest manner, "Cannon that can keep up with an assault".
Friends of me are busy with all kind of Armies, but I did not hear or seen Italy yet. I am afraid I cannot help you there.
Depending on the type, some StuGs are great tank hunters too, the StuG IIIG being one of my favs, love using it in ww2online (aka Battleground Europe).

That's pretty amazing that you found this thread while searching for FoW stuff! The Italians are definitely a viable army! They may lack heavy tanks and their performance is a bit random because you roll pre-game to see what level of training they have, but they do have some deadly artillery, generally solid infantry and their tanks can deal with light vehicles with ease.
