Ah, that's the best one! Thanks Uryens! Even though I already have my theme set, I recommend the Italian and Condietteri banners for anyone making a Tilean army.
Great links!
Actually, I had second thoughts about having ANY banner in my army list.. But I found this a-m-a-z-i-n-g banner

so.. now I guess I could take a War Banner after all!
Thank u Slick (and '
thethroneroom' of course)
I know it's not fitting too well with the Fantasy Mercenary army theme.. but I don't care!!
There's only one last issue though... (last but not least!)
How am I supposed to draw this picture on the plastic-banner??!! You have to be Da Vinci to succeed this..or a machine.... and I'm neither of them....
Any ideas?
Cool links. Some of those are scans of the old Battlemasters banners. Ah, the memories...
I've designed my Battle Standard for my "Cardo's Tigers" army (I am its general/captain, "Michael Cardo"). Our motto is: "All our enemies shall fall." So, the Battle Standard for Cardo’s Tigers (on the Paymaster’s cart) would be:
Sable, tiger proper passant. Name above: Le Tigri di Cardo (Or)
Motto below (Or): Tutti nostri nemici cadranno
“In heraldry the term passant applies to an animal that is walking, with its forepaw lifted.” And, “Or—meaning gold—is usually spelt with a capital letter (e.g., “Gules, a fess Or”), so as not to confuse it with the conjunction or.”
The Tilean language may be similar to the Italian dialect as spoken in Genoa. It is based on the old Ligurian language and has some French connections.
See:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ligurian_language_(Romance)
[The full translation would be: The Tigers of Cardo say that all of our enemies shall fall (in battle).
Le tigri di Cardo dicono che tutti i nostri nemici cadranno (nella battaglia).
And, Richter Kreugar's Cursed Company (I think he was from Wolfenburg in the Empire, originally) has his own Magic Standard for his unit: the Banner of Malediction. It would feature a black background with the upper half of a skeleton (proper or silver). The skeleton would have his arms extended and be holding an axe in one hand. Above the skeleton, the slogan would read:
Die Untoten wünschen Sie!
("The Undead want you!")
And, below the skeleton, the motto would read:
Willkommen zur Ewigkeit!
("Welcome to eternity!")
Or, the motto below could read:
Tragen Sie jetzt für Ewigkeit ein!
("Enlist now for eternity!)
