I have 7 other armies so if I did abandon CDs it would be going back to one of those probably HEs.
I ask 2nd because I know what most people will say here is their favorite.
I own Empire, having sold my HE, so it's Empire for me.
The fact that models cross back and forth is a big plus.

Either Dwarfs or Empire.
Probably Empire for me, but Dark Elves aren't far behind.

1st: Skaven, Kislev, Warriors of Chaos (Norse), and Nippon
2nd: Dogs of War, Dark Elves (one of the few evil armies that can be shoot heavy), Cult of Ulric or Nuln theme empire.

I am attracted to beasts of chaos, skaven, and Tomb Kings, but do not have these armies. I don't have the time or the cash for more armies. Besides, I have a deal with myself, no new armies until I paint 2250 points of two of the three I own.
1st. Lizardmen (As naturally, they are my first and still growing army).
2nd. Probably Empire, Dogs of War coming up close behind.

I had an Khemri army after 2 battles of hard fighting and a year of lending it to friends I have sold the lot.
Human armies are my absolute favour, so:
I have right now an Estalian army which just reached the 2k mark an is still rising in point and unit count AND
I am busy collecting Kislevite models for an al out Kislev Army.
Dogs of War.
My first favorite army is Vampire Counts...

Second..... i don't have one now. But the old Norse army was good. Maybe i should make a new one- Shieldwall's anyone?

Go Chaos Dwarf, keep going with unsupported armies. I have 2 (Chaos Dwarfs and Slayers) and with little work my Empire army can be fielded as a Dogs of War army.
Norse are an unsupported army i can't remember them after 4th ed.
And i'm not talking stupid beserker norse. proper norse- i started an update on them but that petered out
Maybe start again after the Dogs of War one is completed.
I'd say Empire. After all a lot of Dogs of War troops can be fielded with them.
