I've always thought there should be an elven unit in the generic Dogs of War armylist, afterall you've got humans, dwarfs, halflings, ogres and giants! So why not elves?
Feel free to try them out and let me know if there is anything you think is wrong or doesn't work Blush

Note; this unit is meant to be used as an addition to the GW Ravening Hoards Dogs of War list and is balanced as such, it is not intended to be included in this esteemed sites own armybook Big Grin

Special Unit
0-1 Elven Archers 11 points per model
Across the Old World there are many enclaves of elves but these are by far outnumbered by those that have been destroyed. Many of those elves that survive their homes destruction find employment as mercenaries, supplying skilled archery and stealth to those that hire them.
M WS BS S T W I A Ld
Elf 5 4 4 3 3 1 5 1 8
Unit Size: 5-15
Equipment: Longbow, hand weapon. May have a shield (+1pt).
Command: Champion (+1BS) +10pts, Standard Bearer +10pts, Musician +10pts
Special Rules: Skirmishers, may Scout (+1pt)
Not bad. But you are right on there are no normal elves for dogs Gen. to pick from. Mengil's Manflayers and asarnil the dragonlord are about it when comes to elves.
I actually had an Elven RoR posted on this site before the collapse, I will re-post them soon. I originally made a unit of generic Mercenary Elves, but seeing as this guys are very rare as mercs (seeing as most Elves in the Old World are either traders or Wood Elves). Still, it's not a bad unit, and you got the points right too.
I like that you put the 0-1 limiter in. There aren't many elves that follow the path of the mercenary.

I remember those. You should reposted them.
He probably forgot to keep a copy on his computer after posting it.
Yup, that was the case, same with the Dwarf Cataphracts. I have been rewriting them though, with a bit of fluff help from Bilbo. Should be able to repost them by the end of the week, depending on how lazy I am.
Looks good, they should have some sort of champion upgrade though.
Who takes champions in shooting units other than Empire Handgunners?
He would have +1BS so I'd certainly consider it. In either case Shadow Warriors , Shades, Waywatchers etc have the option for a champ so this unit being somewhat similar should get it as well.
If you have the extra points then yes it might be worth it. But in my experience people don't normally put champions in shooting units. My only exception is the Empire Handgunner to get the beloved sniper rifle (Hochland Long Rifle.)

Halflings I use Lumpin
Dwarfs and Chaos Dwarf and Hobgoblins nope, use the points elsewhere.
We're not talking about your experience here, we're talking about rules and options.

I take a few, example I'm playing on taking two in my high elf army for my archer units. people do take them ever if it is once in a blue moon.
I stand corrected, even though I was semi joking about the Who takes them phrase. I know few who do but there is always the option.
I did include the option, kind of anyway Tongue .
As an add on to the Dogs of War list it follows those rules for unit command models, e.g +10pt per option. Which i know is overpriced for the champion and musician but thats what i get for trying to follow GWs standard for the army.

Oh an i think i should meantion why i included the shield option;
-i wanted to set them apart from other elves especially wood elves
-shields are better than light armour!
-i used to like shadow warriors with shields Big Grin

I'm glad people have showed an interest though! As has been said, yes elven mercs are unusual and i've tried to refect that with the Special 0-1. I'd have made them rare but they'd be competing with too many other units then, plus mengil only takes a special slot, so that would be quite unfair on my archers Wink.

There is another reason i made them, mercenaries are hired alot of the time because they can add an extra dimension to the way you fight a battle. It seemed odd that other than the manflayers we don't have access to a scout unit to give that extra dimension.
Well, we have another of my RoR's, Raven's Rangers Rolleyes But no generic scouts, no.
I'd been distracted by all the halfling RoR, i'll go have a look at Raven now....
Oh and i look forward to seeing your elven RoR M4cR1II3n1
Well the creator of the Halfling Regiments of Renown saved them on his computer. Big Grin

Sorry Bilbo, didn't mean to correct ya. Tongue I was just showing that some people do take them. I do see your point on empire they do have some nice options for there missle champs. (exp. Pistiolers)

Indeed, I'd still list it in your unit entry though just for sake of completeness.

Arrrghh you tease, not having been around before the crash i've no idea what the book will be like Sad
I do have a pdf of a Dogs of War test army but i don't think that was connected with this site.
Indeed, definitely has nothing to do with us. Rest assured you'll like it.
Good! because i wasn't a fan, it was less of a Dogs of War list and more of a Tilean city state list.

Back on topic i'm going to convert up a small unit of archers for the fun of it tonight, plus i need the painting practise!
