Hey,

the new Ogre Armybook has been released and I was wondering in which way it affects the new "Dogs of War" Rules -

Example:
Will the Rules for Maneaters change in our Book too?

What do you guys think?

Regards,
Tim

Personally I would say no! The dogs of war ogres have not been the same as the "Ogre Kingdoms" ogres. Aside from the fact that they have not been the same in the previous editions they have more and different options due to the different army list in which they appear and they fill a different role. If anything we should get a permanent addition to our list in the form of the Rhinox riders, as in the new OK book they have more or less been replaced with another unit ( I forgot it's name) and models. As it currently stands our Ogres are capable of doing their job as they were written and re-written to fit the current edition. Perhaps this sounds a bit purist. Although a point could be made for the RoR ogres from Golfag's unit! If for no other reason to set them apart from our rank and file mercenary ogres.
Not sure how the new Ogre book will affect the Man-Eaters in our book. We may just end up dropping Man-Eaters and just making Mercenary Ogres more versatile. Maybe we'll copy + paste the new rules into our book, or perhaps we'll just leave them all alone (apart from points drops I guess on them to account for that change from OK).

But yeah, no plans for the moment.
Thanks for your quick responses.

I'm asking because for me Maneaters are an auto-include for any dogs of war army and i'm really looking forward to using their new designed rules.

I just wanted to ask you rules-designers and other players out there what you think about it...
The new ogre kingdom book will only affect us if the units include the "dogs of war" rule or equivalent. I do miss my maneaters.
They don't. However, the new maneaters have an added rule that if they are part of an allied army, they count as trusted allies.
We our Regiment of Renown ogre unit champion Golfag certainly has made it big! He's become a hero level character with some nice rules to boot. The result of two rolls of a standard die added together then multiplied by ten, in magic item allowance. Will we stil be able to use him and his unit now that he has been re-written? I would say as long as you don't play against an ogre army and as long as you are not intending to use him in a tournament, go for it! In either of the above cases I think it would be better to leave him at home, just to avoid discussions and the time traveller dilemma. "Just imagine the Ogre Kingdoms version of Golfag eating the RoR version for lunch, would he then be able....... Oh well you get the point.
