I've always played my mages solo on foot to avoid nasty side-effects from miscasts. Now that my regular opponent is taking more and more missile troops and fast cavalry, I've been giving some thought to bunkering and I'm not quite sure how to go about it with Dogs, or if I even should. I'm going to try putting my Lvl 4 Life lord in my 10-13x Bearmen unit since they're a good fit both in effect and base size (being the only minis in my army on 25 mm bases). But I have no idea what to do with my Lvl 2 Beast mage on foot (I'll probably stick my Death mage in with the Cursed Company for thematic purposes).

Anyone have strong opinions on bunkering mages in Dogs of War with 8th edition? Particularly good combinations?
Your Bearmen should be on 20mm bases. The only Dogs of War troops that I know of that are on 25mm are the Ruglugs Armoured Orcs -- rest are on 20mm even the Norse Marauders.

I have bunkered my mages in Norse Marauders, Halflings, and X-bow units. Depending on what you want to do with them.
Can you even put a mage in the Cursed Company? They're Unbreakable, and I thought you couldn't put non-UB characters in a UB unit.

Or has that changed since 7th?
Crap, I'd forgotten about that. They aren't technically Unbreakable, but they are Independent. Ah well...
Put him in a unit of duellists. -1 to hit from shooting, lookout sir and the loose formation means no other model is actually in base contact so rolling a 7 on the miscast table means only the loss of D6 power dice. Also a roll of 2-6 will receive less damage from the number of models under the template especially if the wizard is on a corner of the unit.
