Well M4c, I'm being slowed because I am on holiday and don't have my laptop on me and my USB is so full it can only hold 3 of the files (Dawi Zharr, Gunga and Nippon). However, Albion is a few days work but I'm not back until Sunday the 8th of August so expect Albion in 2 weeks. Then, perhaps a week later, Dawi Zharr, then Gunga and Nippon (haven't got that much work done on them so It'll be a bit longer for them). If you don't mind though, can I please take you up on that offer of making me some covers, if so, I'll PM you the images.
Verezzo
Sure, just PM me then and I'll send you my email where you can send the cover images. Would you like it in traditional GW-style or something else to differentiate your line of books from mine? Such as text in the middle of the page instead of to the left and so on?
Thanks M4c - can we try text in the midle and at the top just right of where you and GW put your text.
The original post has now been updated with links to the separate threads that each of the Army Books have.
Because I really can't wait to do Estalia, I'm going to do 5 book's in phase 5; the already listed 4 and Estalia

!
Also, because I want to get some feedback on my 75% Spartan, 25% Roman approach to Spaarta I'm going to post up the units in the Spaarta thread (but work won't be starting for a very long time

!)
Mind posting your ideas for Estalia? I'm planning on starting them in the not to distant future, and it would be good to see if you have some ideas I haven't thought of already
Also, when is Albion coming out? I have been waiting quite a while

Oh, another thing that surprised me: how come you are not making Kislev or Cathay? I mean, you have mentioned every existing army, and several non-existing ones, as well as armies that already have army books, so the fact that you are not gonna write them seems a bit off?

I'll post my ideas on Estalia tommorow (and the Halflings while I'm at it) M4c.
On Albion, I can't really get motivated at the moment so expect late next week for a Playtest Version (absolutely no fluff - not even the bestiary

!)
On Cathay and Kislev I might do them - it's just you did a brilliant job and I really like your books (but who, knows I might do it...

!)
Haha, does that mean I didn't do as good a job on Araby, Norse, Albion and Nippon, since you are writing your own version of them?
Playtest next week sounds okay, looking forward to seeing what you can come up with. Although if you want it to look its best I'd recommend getting some layout work done. Personally I find it difficult to get interested in just names and statlines. Images does the most, followed by unit description. But hey, that's just me

No, no, no, no - I mean to take Norse of the list (I'll do it in a minute) - possibly the best (honestly - I was just trying to reply the question

!). Its not that I think Araby, Albion and Nippon aren't good, I just think there are a few things missing and in some cases they just don't feel right to me

(I'll give you a Gold Ducat as a sorry

!).
Oh and by the way, brilliant idea setting up a website but, when are we getting our 8th ed. updates?
P.S. - when you say you're doing a Dogs of War Book, do you mean you're doing one or do you mean the community one we're doing as a website?
Haha, I'm just yanking your crank, you are free to think whatever you want
And hey, if you think anything is missing or you have another view of an army, than you should absolutely make your own version if you feel like it, that's what I do. Personally, I go by these "rules" when making a army list:
1. Has it been done before?
- If not, then go ahead.
2. If it has been done before, do you think it should have been done differently?
- If yes, then go ahead.
3. Can you make (in your opinion) a better version or more updated version of an existing list?
- If yes, then go ahead.
If none of the following apply, I simply wouldn't make the army list. Take Chaos dwarfs for instance, there is no way I would do a better job than Kevin Coleman and Matt Birdoff on that, nor would I wish that list would look any different. But again, that's just me.
And 8th ed updates have been posted, did 3 in the last 2 days
Araby, Kislev, Albion and Nippon are up, as posted in my blog.
I know and by the way, Estalia or Royal Estalia is up for you M4c. When's Cathay getting an 8th ed update though (just wondering as I may be playing a game with them in 2 weeks or so, but don't over work yourself

!)
Cathay got it's update yesterday as well, all books did. Sat the entire day going through them

Ah yes - I see it now

!
Hey armybook guys, I've got a pretty basic question: Which programm do you use for your pdfs? The Adobe Reader is expensive as far as I saw, and another programm I tested, Scribus wasn't useful either... can you enlighten me?
Good ol' Word for writing, Cutepdf for printing

Oh, ok, quite easy!

Thanks!
I use Serif Page Plus (X2) and then save as a PDF file - I then read and print it on Foxit Reader.
Yeah, I also use pageplus (X3

) when making the back cover, and photoshop C4 for the front cover. I tried using pageplus for writing and layout as well, but ultimately found Word to be easier (although it comes with it's share of frustration until you learn how to fix it).
Yeah okay - don't get cocky about having the latest toys

!
You need the following tools:
Inkscape (Vector illustration program) <=> Adobe Illustrator
GIMP (Image manipulation program) <=> Adobe Photoshop
Scribus (DTP program) <=> Adobe Indesign, Quark Express
All these programs run on both windows, mac and linux. And if you run windows/mac you'll need a pdf printer, to which a quick google search yield a lot of results.
I've said this many times before and I'll say it again.
MS Word (or OpenOffice for that matter) IS NOT a valid replacement for proper DTP software (such as Scribus).
Take the time necessary to learn the tools of the trade rather than shoehorn other software into role it was never intended for. M4c will say otherwise but that's because he doesn't listen to me

But trust me, the time you spend learning how to use proper tools will be repaid with interest. Especially since your aim is to produce so many books.
But if you must use a regular word processor I'd use OpenOffice since:
1. It's free.
2. It's got the same functionality as MS Word.
3. It has built in PDF export capability right off the bat.
Sorry for the long wait - I just really can't get motivated to write Magic Items or Bestiary entry's

! Has anyone got any tips on how to get motivated again?
Anyway, because there are some book I really want to do, phase 1 is going to have 5 books (Albion, Dawi Zharr, Gunga, Nippon and Kingdoms of Ind) and phase 2 is going to have x books (Estalia, The Moot, Marienburg, Spaarta and Araby).
Thanks for your patience,
Verezzo
I suggest cookies. Or even better, school work! Nothing makes writing warhammer rules funnier then writing something you would actually have use for in real life

For anyone wondering, I haven't given up - I am doing some secret army books (expect a pointy one soon)

!!
I have now set up a webs website for my book series. Link in my signature

!
Wouldn't it be better to try and finish an one army first, before starting on new ones all the time? You'll never get finished otherwise. Also, High Elves already has a decent book and several current fan-adaptations to fix the balance issues within it, so I personally see little point in "writing" an already existing book with a 7th ed update.
